It was 40 years ago today that Star Trek premiered on NBC. These are pics from the second pilot, "Where No Man Has Gone Before." It was this pilot that led to NBC greenlighting the series. I liked these uniforms a little better than the ones the crew eventually wore.
Note that Dr. McCoy isn't the ship's doctor. The older gentleman is Dr. Mark Piper. Also, Scotty is wearing command colors rather than the red, technical/engineering shirt. The actress is Sally Kellerman, best known for her role as Hot Lips in the film "MASH," as Dr. Elizabeth Dehner.
